pleased to meet you: ernst ludwig kirchner

portrait | one | two | three | four | five | six | seven (self portrait)

I have a color crush on this artist.
he was a German Expressionist who was one of the founders of Die Brucke, an influential group that lead to the foundation of Expressionism.
A tragic part of his personal history: in 1933 the Nazi's deemed his work "degenerate" and 600 of his works were sold or destroyed (!)

field trip: Miller House

Brian and Missi went to visit the Miller House in Indianapolis a few weeks ago.
It was commissioned in 1953 and showcases the work of Eero Saarinen (architect), Alexander Girard (textiles) and Dan Kiley (landscape + garden).
How cool is that sunken hangout area? Love all of those pillows!
Let's have a party there. You're all invited.
