fun facts:

born in Romania, 1914

graduated college with a degree in architecture from Politecnico di Milano

by 1940, his cartoons were appearing in Life magazine and Harper's Bazaar

after anti-semitic laws were introduced in Italy, he left for the Dominican Republic, where he continued to submit drawings to publications

The New Yorker sponsored his entry into the United States

Steinberg worked for The New Yorker for 60 years (!), nearly 90 covers and over 1,200 drawings
there have been more than 80 solo shows of his work in galleries
