pleased to meet you: alice hindson

Alice Hindson (1896-1984) attended the Central School of Art and Crafts in London where she studied Drawing, Lettering and Wood Graving. While attending the school she met Luther Cooper, a draw loom weaver and author of a classic handbook Handloom Weaving (1910), which reignited a revival of the craft. Hindson's work was generally in silk, brightly colored and had a Chinese feeling. She dyed most of her own silk yarn in natural plant dyes.
