pleased to meet you: alice hindson

Alice Hindson (1896-1984) attended the Central School of Art and Crafts in London where she studied Drawing, Lettering and Wood Graving. While attending the school she met Luther Cooper, a draw loom weaver and author of a classic handbook Handloom Weaving (1910), which reignited a revival of the craft. Hindson's work was generally in silk, brightly colored and had a Chinese feeling. She dyed most of her own silk yarn in natural plant dyes.

pleased to meet you: the seeberger brothers


Modern fashion photography was born with the work of the Seeberger Brothers (Jules, Henri and Louis). They attended sporting events, racetracks, hung out at beaches...all in search of the well to do and fashionable in Paris (a la The Sartorialist). It's so fascinating to get a glimpse into the style of the early 1900s.
