Walter Crane

1886

Walter Crane was involved in the British Arts & Crafts movement. He illustrated lots of English children's books and created very successful wallpaper designs for Jeffrey and Company, a prominent wallpaper manufacturer at the time.

Most of his designs are very decorative and colorful (a typical characteristic for English decor at the time), but this one is one of his simpler designs:


I could totally see this wallpaper in a modern interior today.
