Navajo Blankets

Thought I would continue on with blankets this week. These are Navajo Blankets that were on "Antiques Roadshow." The one above was valued at 350,000 - 500,000 in 2002. It is a First Phase Chief's Blanket, which means it was woven sometime in the mid 1800's. They were called Chief's Blankets because they were so expensive, only a chief or wealthy individuals could afford them. You can check out more about the blankets on the PBS site.
