Another talent left this world last week. J. D. Salinger famous recluse writer of the classic "Catcher in the Rye" passed away. I think it is time to reread some of his stories. It has been awhile. Here are a few copies of "Catcher in the Rye" through the years. Sometime in the 50's he had a clause put in his publisher's contract which limited the book covers to author and title only. He did not want his reader to have a preconceived notion of the characters. He also did not want his picture published on the back cover. The edition above did not last long. I love the simplicity of his later book covers, but there is something nice about the one above.
